    Summary of Legal Experience:

    As Patent & Trademark Counsel of International Flavors & Fragrances Inc. (1966-2000) I had global responsibility for IFF Intellectual Property matters, including patent, trademark and copyright matters. I handled a number of licensing matters as well as intellectual property aspects of joint research efforts with other corporate entities and universities. I drafted domestic and overseas patent, trademark and copyright applications, handled prosecution of domestic and international patent and trademark applications, successfully handled a number of appeals and interferences and rendered validity and infringement opinions. In addition, I conducted a number of intellectual property seminars at various company locations throughout the world including Netherlands, England, France, Argentina and Brazil.

    As Patent Attorney at General Aniline and Film Company (GAF) (1965-1966), I rendered a number of infringement and validity opinions in the photographic technology field, was involved in a number of licensing matters, and successfully handled one patent appeal matter .

    As Examiner in the United States Patent and Trademark Office (from 1961-1965), I examined significant numbers of patent applications and handled patent interferences and appeals in the photographic and polymer arts, specifically epoxy resins and electrophotography, including for example, xerography.

    At Merck & Co. Inc. from 1959 to 1961 I worked in a liaison capacity between the Research Staff and the Patent Section of the Merck Law Department; and, in addition, I aided in the prosecution of patent interferences and in the preparation and prosecution of domestic and Canadian patent applications.

    Summary of Technical Experience:

    As a chemical engineer in the Engineering Development section of the Merck & Co. Chemical Division, I was involved with industrial chemical (e.g. monosodium glutamate and lysine) and pharmaceutical (e.g. DIURIL) process scale-up from development to production .

    As a chemical engineer at Mobay Chemical Company, I was involved with (a) the pilot plant production of intermediates required for synthesis of polyurethane foam products and (b) determination of the aging properties of newly-developed polyurethanes.
